Job Summary:
Responsible for taking member & guest orders, maintaining the appearance of the café,  leading the front of the house staff.  Preparation and delivery of food in a friendly, efficient manner.   

Summary Of Essential Job Functions:     

  •  Attract and retain members
  •  Assists guests with service requests, ensuring the guest is the highest priority and outstanding service is provided.
  •  Process & prepare food/drink orders for all members as required
  •  Handle customer complaints, escalate when necessary
  • Assign cleaning tasks to FOH (Front of House) staff – daily and weekly
  • Coach and monitor FOH staff on cleanliness, stocking, and cell phones usage
  • Cross train in the BOH (Back of House/kitchen) – learn food prep and preparation on both hot and cold lines
  •  Prep cold food items – portioning, chopping, and slicing as needed
  •  Back of the house food preparation when scheduled
  •  Responsible for cash and charge, balancing drawer at shift open and close
  •  Required to maintain a clean work environment at all times
  •  Required to assist kitchen staff with dishwashing as needed
  •  Maintain and replenish stock of goods used, prepared, and sold in the front of the house area 
  •  Communicates with kitchen staff to ensure that prepared foods are stocked
  •  Communicate with Café Manager regularly regarding FOH employee performance
  •  Act as Co-Café Lead along with the Kitchen Lead when the Café Manager is not present
  •  First point of contact for FOH employees who cannot make it to work – may be required to work additional shifts to help maintain proper shift coverage in the café
  •  Perform other related duties as assigned by Café Manager or Kitchen Lead


Knowledge/Skills Required: 

  •  Current state of AZ Food Handlers Card
  •  Six months of experience in a lead role in a café environment
  •  A minimum of six months of basic food/customer service experience
  •  Ability to work independently and take initiative
  •  Must be flexible to work varied shifts
  •  Must be able to work cooperatively with others
  •  Strong attention to detail, organizational and multi-tasking skills
  •  Friendly & energetic with strong verbal communication skills
  •  Must be reliable and punctual
  •  CPR certification within 30 days of hire through Company training
  • High School Diploma or GED 

Knowledge/Skills Preferred:

  • Culinary, hospitality or business related college courses
  • Experience in food and beverage assistant management or shift supervision

Physical Activity
This position requires standing, walking, lifting, fingering, grasping, reaching, pushing, pulling, bending, kneeling and stooping.  Standing for long periods of time. Substantial repetitive movements (motions) of the wrists, hands, and/or fingers.  Expressing or exchanging ideas by means of the spoken word. Involved in activities where one must convey detailed or important spoken instructions to others accurately, loudly, or quickly. Perceiving the nature of sounds at normal speaking levels with or without correction. Requires the ability to receive detailed information through oral communication, and to make the discriminations in sound.

Physical Requirement
Light to Medium work involving standing most of the time. Walking and bending are required occasionally.  Frequently exerting 10-20 pounds of force to lift, carry, push, pull or otherwise move objects, including the human body. Occasionally exerting up to 30 pounds of force to move objects.

Visual Requirement
This position requires close visual acuity to determine the cleanliness, neatness and thoroughness of the work assigned or to make general observations of facilities cleanliness and accuracy of work.

Working Conditions
This position may be subject to typical kitchen hazards.  Including a variety of kitchen appliances and tools.  Physical conditions include kitchen appliances, kitchen tools and equipment, moving mechanical parts, electrical current, vibrations, wet surfaces and floors. This position has frequent exposure to atmospheric conditions such as high heat, fumes, odors and chemicals.  This position is frequently performed in close quarters and kitchen areas.
